Life Little Journey - Sikkim 2006

Hi guys, let me share my experience I had from my salvation trip in Sikkim, North India. First of all, the view of that place is breathless, it is like my geography textbook reveal right before my very eyes. The journey was about 10 hours flight time + 8hours jeep ride up the mountains. Well, that's the morning view outside my room which I wake up to every morning.

December is the winter season, however it will only snow in early January, but the coldness can be felt about 3 - 12 degrees. Every night is about how many shooting stars you can see, the sky super clear at night, but it's very cold. My medicated oil, feng1 you2 freeze when I forget to bring it in during my 3rd night.

We are staying at the hostel of the school and we are there to conduct a series of workshops for the teachers and students as well as improving their infrastructure. The schools there are very run down, a school from primary 1 to JC 2 only have about 100+ students. The kids three are really very sincere and self-contented, basically "different" from kids from Singapore. Eg... while kids in Singapore are learning to play PSP or gameboy advance, the kids there of age 3 4 are doing laundry and looking after one another. Most children there are orphans so they take care of each other very much.

Two scene that still have an impact on me is seeing a 3 year old carrying a 1 year old.. walking down 3 stories of stairs and put the baby to her bed and a 4 year old teaching a 3 year old how to do the laundry. When I see in front of me for the first time, I was really stun; culture shock~!!

They are very hospitable to their guest because according to their customs, there are 4 gods in their life, 1-the god, 2-parents, 3-teachers, 4-guest. There is a lot to learn and understand about this place, it is very peaceful and it make me realize how lucky I am to have whatever I have now.

The place is a very beautiful place and the people there makes it even better.

Words cannot describe this life journey of mine but I m glad to be back in home and I will make up for lost time with u guys.. ; )
